MTV Ringtones is only offered in one ringtone, mastertone. From what we can tell is that is just a fancy way of saying Realtone. Mastertones are the actual songs for your phone and the quality is very good.
You can pay per tone or for the same price sign up for a monthly subscription. All songs are $2.99 individually, and if you sign up for the subscription you get one Realtone and one wallpaper for the same price. However, remember this will be a reoccuring charge.
A big disadvantage to MTV Ringtones is they are compatible with AT&T, Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile cell phones. The service catters particularly to Virgin Mobile and provides links and offers on their website for Virgin Mobile cell phones.
The MTV ringtone website is poorly layed out and you cannot search for music by genre. MTV Ringtones naturally focuses on carrying ringtones that they can market to a younger demographic-expect to find mostly hip-hop, rock and pop material.
